Sishubhavan play school – Muthialpet The Sishubhavan play school was started by Prime Trust Founder Mr. SM Arasu in Muthialpet for the convenience of working mothers to leave their children in a safe, peaceful and clean environment. There are 10 children in the play school. Mrs. Bhavani, the play school teacher and Mrs. Poorani, the assistant take care of the children. The children spend their time playing in indoor slides and toys. Accomplishments of women after receiving microcredit from Prime Trust With the support of GlobalGiving, Prime Trust was able to help one of their beneficiaries, Mrs. Gayathri (36 yrs) social science graduate of the Akshaya Punnagai Pookal self help group at Muthialpet with Rs.20,000/- to buy her own tailoring machine. The financial assistance helped her to have an income on her own by sewing dresses for others. Her husband Mr. Dakshanamoorthi (41yrs) is an electrician. Her two sons are doing schooling. The income from her small tailoring business helps them repay her loan. Screening of women empowerment videos for Akshaya Chittu kuruvi self help group women On 06.10.2022 the three MSW interns from the MAR AUGUSTHINOSE college Ramapuram , Kerela and Mrs. Mary Slessor, Program Manager from Prime Trust visited the Akshaya Chittu Kuruvi Self Help Group members at Anandapuram village, Puducherry. There was an interaction session about how the SHG was going on and about the occupation of the members. The women were shown two videos on women empowerment. It was a good opportunity for the interns to interact with the women by going to their community. The women interacted well and also watched the videos with much interest. Prime Trust organizes farewell dinner for the MSW interns from the MAR AUGUSTHINOSE college Ramapuram , Kerela MSW interns Mr. Hari Krishnan VJ, Ms. Nayana Vijayan and Ms. Aneetta Biju did their internship at Prime Trust from 10/09/2022 to 10/10/2022. They were actively involved in all the activities of Prime Trust. On 08/10/2022 a farewell dinner was organized for the interns at Janani home. The founder of Prime Trust Mr. SM Arasu thanked the interns for their active involvement and their contribution in the activities of Prime Trust. The interns were felicitated with by a shawl and mementos were given. The interns thanked the founder and shared about their learning experiences in Prime Trust. The Program Manager Mrs. Mary Slessor shared her experience of guiding the interns. Skill Development Program for the evening school children at Muthialpet On October 8, 2022 Prime Trust along with the fly high India team conducted a skill development program for the evening school children at Muthialpet. One member from the team took a session on time management and importance of saving money, a dental student from the team taught the children the various steps in washing their hands. Group activities like making paper boats in groups were done. The children participated with much interest. 19 children were benefitted through this program. Ayudha Puja

Ayudha Puja is a part of the Navratri festival (Nine nights), a Hindu festival that is traditionally celebrated in India. It may be translated to “worship of Instruments”. On the tenth day of the Dasara festival, weapons and tools are worshipped. The Puja is considered a meaningful custom, which focuses specific attention to one’s profession and its related tools and connotes that a divine force is working behind it to perform well and for getting the proper reward. On 03.10.2022 Monday Ayudha Puja was celebrated by the staff of Prime Trust at Sishubhavan ( Muthialpet), Janani home( Colas Nagar) and Prime trust office ( Rainbow Nagar). In all the three places puja’s were done with lighting the lamp, offering aarti, flowers, sweet pongal and chick pea to the deity. The participants were given sweet pongal and chick pea. A special program was organized in Prime Trust. It started with the prayer song and continued by welcome speech. The Prime Trust Founder and Chairman Mr. SM Arasu gave a short speech on the various experiences of Prime Trust for the past 20 years. He reminded and thanked all the staff members who had worked in Prime Trust in those years. Mr. Fredy, the founder’s son and trustee shared about how Prime Trust had played a very important role throughout his life. The Janani home children, the evening school children and the MSW interns from MAR AUGUSTHINOSE college Ramapuram , Kerela performed dances. The staffs were given gifts. The women were shown two videos on women empowerment. There was an interaction session about how the SHG has helped the women and their families. Each member shared about how they have utilized the Rs. 20,000/- loan that they received from Prime Trust. It was a good opportunity for the interns to interact with the women by going to their community. The women responded well and also watched the videos with much interest. Prime Trust, in association with Jothi Eye Care Hospital conducted a free Eye Screening Camp

A free eye screening camp was conducted at the Prime Trust office, Rainbow Nagar for the public by Prime Trust in collaboration with the Jothi Eye Care Hospital on 30th September 2022. Wide publicity was made to the local community about the opportunity. Eye screening was done on children, men and women. For further treatment such as cataract surgery and other ophthalmic issues they were referred to the Jothi Eye Care Hospital. The medical team informed the community about the central government schemes available to the public. The local community was also informed about the special offers from the hospital extended through this camp. People of different ages were benefitted through the camp. With the support of LACIM, France, Prime Trust was able to help Mrs. Marie Julia (36 yrs) a graduate of economics of the Akshaya Punnagai Pookal self help group at Muthialpet with Rs. 20,000/- to build a toilet for the tuition center that she takes for the school children. Her husband Mr. Tamil Vendan (41yrs) is a building contractor. Her daughter and son are doing schooling. The Income from the tuition center helps them repay the loan. Leisure time activities at Janani home with the interns

On 24.09.2022 the Janani home children along with the three MSW interns from the MAR AUGUSTHINOSE college Ramapuram , Kerela spent time together in playing indoor games and doing exercises in the morning. In the evening they visited the Pondicherry beach and the park. It was a time of fun for them. An outing encourages the physical as well as mental development of children. Playing outside allows kids to develop more advanced motor skills, it gives better general health, improves muscle strength etc. The children participated with enthusiasm in every activity. They are united and have the feeling of oneness among themselves. On 24.09.2022 two MSW interns from the MAR AUGUSTHINOSE college Ramapuram , Kerela and Mary Slessor, Program Manager from Prime Trust visited the Rasu udayar thottam and Janani home at Colas Nagar, Puducherry. The awareness videos on health and hygiene were screened for two groups of children - the children at Rasu udayar thottam (16) and the children at Janani home (9). A short talk on personal hygiene was also given to the two groups. It was an interactive session. The children interacted with much interest. Group activities for the girls in Janani home by the MSW interns from the MAR AUGUSTHINOSE college Ramapuram , Kerela

On 22nd and 23rd of September 2022 three MSW interns conducted group activities for the 9 girls in Janani home. Musical chair, quiz, recycling ideas – group discussion, dance session, drawing session and exercise session were conducted. The children participated actively with much enjoyment. The children love to do activities in groups. It was an opportunity for the children to bring out their skills, talents and leadership qualities. It was an opportunity for the interns to interact and learn to work with the children, to make every child participate, to apply the World Health Organization basic life skills in the group activities.

On 17.09.2022 the Janani home girls had a welcome party to the newly married couple of Mr. Prabhu and Mrs. Anandhi. Mrs. Anandhi is the elder sister of Miss. Uma who is the Accountant of Janani Home. The couple brought sweets to the children and they enjoyed our children’s dance performance.
