Christmas get together at Muthialpet evening school Christmas is a Christian holiday worshiping the birth of Jesus Christ, who is believed to be the son of God. The festival of Christmas, which is celebrated on 25 December every year, has evolved over two eras into a global secular and religious celebration. Today, Christmas is a much-awaited festival for families and friends to get together and exchange gifts and cards. On 26.12.2022 the evening school children at Muthialpet celebrated Christmas. The children danced for Christmas songs. Games were conducted for the children by the BSW interns from KMCT Arts and Science College, Kuttippuram, Kerela. The evening school teacher Mrs. Bhavani, Mrs. Usha, Program Manager Mrs. Mary Slessor, Mr. Sushant Yadav – volunteer also took part in the program. Refreshments were given. Christmas Crib in Janani Home Christmas crib represents how Jesus was born. Christmas crib exhibits figures that represent infant Jesus, his mother, Mary, and her husband, Joseph. There are various other characters that are part of the Christmas crib. These characters include shepherds, sheep and angels. All these characters are displayed near the manger in a barn (or cave) which is projected to accommodate farm animals. A donkey and an ox are also a part of this scene and Magi and their camels are also included. The session started with a game. The participants were asked about what they knew about HIV/AIDS. The ways of transmission, how it is not transmitted, HIV test, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome was explained. It was a new subject to most of them. Hand bills on the HIV/AIDS Act, 2017 and facts and information about HIV/AIDS was given to the participants. The children responded with interest. Movers workshop for the girls at Janani home, Colas nagar The Movers Programme is a regional movement of volunteers who develop Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs awareness, entrepreneurial mindsets and 21st-century skills by conducting localized training at a grassroots level. The Movers Programme uses a training-of-trainer approach and works with community partners to target harder-to-reach groups and support Youth Co:Lab’s objective to leave no youth behind. Prime Trust, in association with Jyothi Eye Care Hospital conducts a free Eye Screening Camp The eyes are among the most sensitive organs of the body and are considered to be one of the most important senses. Eye examinations check for the visual function for proximal vision as well as distance vision. On 18.11.2022 Prime Trust along with Jyothi eye care organized a free eye screening camp at the Sishubhavan play school, Muthialpet. Wide publicity was made to the local community about the opportunity. Eye screening was done on children, men and women. For further treatment such as cataract surgery and other ophthalmic issues they were referred to the Jyothi Eye Care Hospital. The medical team informed the community about the central government schemes available to the public. The local community was also informed about the special offers from the hospital extended through this camp. People of different ages were benefitted through the camp. The arrangements were made by Mrs. Mary Slessor - Program Manager, Mrs. Bhavani – Play school teacher and the Bachelors of (Hons) agriculture Interns from the Karunya institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore. About 90 individuals were benefitted through this camp.
